Agnews Cast Iron products use Duracote...
What is Duracote?... What benefits will I get from Duracote?...
Duracote is a protective application applied to the surface of all Agnews polished cast iron fireplaces.
Duracote supplies a superior finish to the polished cast iron, which enhances the detail on the cast and suppresses tarnishing and corrosion.
The application and formulation of Duracote is a closely guarded secret and is the result of years of testing and research... Duracote is only available from AGNEWS... beware of poor quality imitations.
The Duracote finish is suitable for use with solid fuel*
*It should be noted that the front bar and ashpan cover to any fireplace are designated as a working surface,
I.e. they are involved in the burning of the fuel.
It is therefore expected that Duracote, when applied to a working surface, will behave in the same fashion as a polished cast iron product with no application (with the exception of rusting).
In most cases this will involve temper colours becoming visible on polished areas where excessive heat is generated by the fire.
This colouring can be minimised using a suitable metal polish. This condition is considered to be normal.
